Each communication journey is different and we want you to be able to Speak Volumes to those around you. Therapy is recommended 30-45 minutes either 1-2 times a week, or 1-2 times a month.
Parent Coaching/ Play Based
Play based therapy with focus on parent coaching optimizes communication developmental and progress to meet developmentally appropriate speech and language milestones. Parent involvement and carryover is vital to see progress for young children. Therapy will involve family routines and child motivated play. Therapy occurs typically 1-2 times a month.
Gestalt Language Processing
Children with Autism often learn language differently than previously believed! Natural Language Acquisition or Gestalt Language Processors often begin their language learning process in “chunks” of language or echoes. Have you heard your child “echoing” their favorite YouTube video, but have difficulty telling you “eat” or “apple”? This may be because they learn language differently than what is typically taught as an “analytic” language learner.
Speak Volumes uses activities of specific interest to your child to support communication and learning. We believe in connection first in order to see progress later. We are trained in Natural Language Acquisition Techniques and provide resources/collaboration with families to carry over these techniques into everyday situations. Many communication impairments may benefit from Augmentative Alternative Communication to include speech delay and individuals with Autism, Apraxia of Speech, Aphasia, and more. AAC can present in different ways such as gestures, sign language, picture communication, speech generating devices and more.
